Internship / Volunteer at the DMRC
Description :: The Dahab Marine
Research Center has internship
opportunities available to qualified undergraduates and graduates
looking for experience in marine sciences.

We are seeking applicants
to help conduct research and conservation work on several projects
being conducted in marine and terrestrial communities along the
coast of South Sinai.
The internship will be based at the DMRC and work closely with
visiting researchers, biologically interested guests and the Dive In
staff.
Depending on qualification, duration of stay and demands at the
institute, interns will find various opportunities to gain field
experience, e.g.:

Science Education
o Presentations about marine and terrestrial ecology
or other interesting scientific topics (e.g., astronomy)
o Prepare educational material and hangouts (exhibition
in our classroom, reef info desk, …)

Research
o Assistance in running projects or own projects

Marketing, PR &
Communication
o Develop material for advertisement (e.g. for special
activities in Dahab or the DMRC/Dive In)
o Webpage
o Networking
o Picture Database
-
Diving
o If DM qualified biologically guided dives
o Dive training, Dive Center administration and
general duties
o Buddy up with researchers

These are ideas for your stay but your activities do
not have to be restricted to that. We welcome proactive
and creative ideas to help us with our mission and goals.
Conditions :: The minimum duration of an
internship is 4 weeks. Working hours vary depending on
season, but are generally from 8 am to 6 pm, within a 6
day week. Diving, Equipment rent and dive training are
available at special rates for our volunteers (price
list).
After successful completion of the internship you will
be granted a certificate of your scientific and diving
achievements.

Requirements :: We are seeking people who are
enthusiastic about marine ecology and may be considering
marine science as a career. Undergraduate juniors and
seniors enrolled in marine programs or with marine
experience are preferred. Graduating seniors are also
welcome to apply. Interns will work under the
supervision of the project leader, but must demonstrate
the ability to work independently. Applicants should
possess good written and verbal communication skills,
including the ability to communicate effectively with
non-scientists.
